The October rankings saw a record 22 players in the top 100 reach career high rankings.
At the top of this list is the game’s faster rising star, Sarah-Jane Perry. Perry, the 23 year old from Warwickshire, was ranked down at number 45 this time last year but her first quarter final at a World Series event at last month’s CIMB Malaysian Open has seen her move up to no.14. Perry has complied an impressive 31-6 win loss record in the last year on the tour and her ranking high is also significant as she is the first English player to join Laura Massaro, Alison Waters and Jenny Duncalf in the world’s top 14 since Tania Bailey was at no.13 in July 2009.
Now at 30 years old, both Line Hansen and Nicolette Fernandes are experienced campaigners on the WSA tour. 2013 has been a breakout year for both players with Hansen winning two WSA titles, including last week’s Equinox Orange County Open, and Fernandes reaching her biggest final at the Irish Open in April. As well as strong showings at some of the tour’s biggest events, this month has seen Hansen reach a career high of no.18 and Fernandes at no.19.
Elsewhere in the top 20, Jenny Duncalf leap frogs Low Wee Wern to no.6 and Camille Serme returns to the top 10 after reaching the CIMB Malaysian Open semi finals last month. The top 5 remain unchanged with Nicol David making it 87 months unbroken at the top of the rankings after she claimed her 67th WSA title at the CIMB Malaysian Open last month.
Outside the top 20, there were a further 19 players with career high rankings:
Joshana Chinappa up to no.24, Siyoli Waters up to no.28, Tesni Evans up to no.39, Salma Hany Ibrahim up to no.49, Salma Nassar up to no.58, Sabrina Sobhy up to no.60, Rachel Arnold up to no.64, Zulhijjah Binti Azan up to no.66, Mariam Metwally up to no.70, Cyrielle Peltier up to no.73, Milnay Louw up to no.82, Kim Ga-Hye up to no.83, Cecelia Cortes up to no.85, Catalina Pelaez up to no.89, Nada Elkalaawy up to no.91, Katja Amir up to no.93, Taylor Flavell up to no.94, Jacqueline Barnes up to no.97 and Natalie Newton up to no.100.
